I was drawn to the National Museum of the American Indian site for a couple of reasons. First, my reflexive scholarly project pertains to the voice of education and it is nice to know that there is a site that one can go to in order to learn about Native Americans. The site discusses and offers teacher workshops that educators can attend in order to learn Native American culture and history and ways in which to incorporate their newly learned knowledge within the classroom setting (Smithsonian, 2016). Children that attend the museum are given the opportunity to experience Native American culture and ways in a three dimensional and hands-on manner as they are able to view various types of Native American attire, read stories about Native American culture, learn history, craft and create take home projects, participate in games, and play Native American percussion instruments (Smithsonian, 2016).

If one is not able to actually go to the museum, one can learn on-line through the website. I took a look at the Infinity of Nations Culture Quest game and it offers various facts and information about Native American culture in various areas of North and South America. I believe this is a wonderful resource as it teaches children and educators that Indians live in various spots and they are not all the same; the culture is made up of numerous tribes with varying beliefs, values, and ways of living.

I really enjoy going to museums that Concentrate on Native Americans, I feel like it is different to talk about history that occurred right under your feet as opposed to half an ocean away. Something I have noticed is that there is always some activity for kids to partake in in these museums so I hope your children enjoy it!
